This free spiral can cozy crochet pattern is a beginner pattern that’s perfect to get ready for summer fun! Memorial day, fourth of July, and Veteran’s Day are all better in red, white, and blue… Or whatever three colors you want to make this beer cozy (or soda cozy) for your fun in the sun πŸ™‚

Spiral Craze!

Have you seen all the crochet patterns recently that are worked with multiple colors in the same row resulting in a true spiral?

I am loving them!

So much so that I have several patterns in the works using this idea.

This particular pattern uses 3 colors, because I wanted to make something fun for summer parties that would be fun and festive. So this 3 color spiral can cozy was born.

I love the look of the red, white, and blue, but wanted to try other colors too. And it looks great in all the color combos I’ve made so far! I’m sure I’ll be trying more as the summer goes on.

Cotton Yarn

I love using cotton yarn for cozies. I used it for my ice pop cozy too!! Check out the pattern for that, here!

Cotton is great for absorbing moisture, meaning your hands don’t get wet from holding a sweaty can in the heat of summer. Or cold if you happen to be enjoying your cold beverage in the winter πŸ˜‰

Cotton is also great because it is wash and dryable. Making it super easy to clean these when the inevitable spill happens.

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in the round. Do not join at the end of each row.

Each row is worked with all 3 of the colors. Work the instructions with color A, color B, and color C before moving on to the next row. In my examples photos below, color A is red, color B is white, and color C is blue.

Due to the nature of the spiral pattern, you will not work every stitch in the round as you work a row. Hence, you will be unable to accurately count your β€œrows” as you work the pattern. I recommend writing down the numbers 1 – 22. As you complete each row in the pattern mark off the number, so you know it was done.

Use a stitch marker to hold each color as you are finished working it. Move the stitch marker to the previously worked color before inserting your hook to work the next color.

It might be tempting to work color C first when you are ready to move on to the next row since your hook is already there, but I recommend against this because it is a good way to quickly get confused about where you are.
